BALLET

Sanibel Dance Pre-Professional Division accepts students beginning

at nine years of age. Students follow a carefully structured sequence of training stages, designed specifically to increase their technical skills, stamina and discipline in accordance with their age and physical ability. 

 

DRESS CODE:

Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, pink split sole canvas ballet shoes. Hair must be tied back off the face

Boys: Black shorts, white t-shirt, black ballet shoes

 

 

BALLET/POINTE 12yrs & up |

 

This class is designed for students who already have a strong background in Ballet. Students must have the ability to understand instruction, terminology and are willing to master proper ballet technique.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL

 

MODERN DANCE

The Modern Division has been designed to give students and understanding of modern dance through exercises that engage in body awareness and movement exploration and that promotes a recognition and appreciation of self and others. Students learn basic body movement and choreographic skills in musical/rhythmic contexts. Students learn to compare works in terms of the elements of space, time, and force/energy and to experience the similarities and differences between dance and other disciplines. In order to accomplish and advanced level, students need to supplement their modern training with a class in ballet or jazz.

Girls: Black leotard, black footless tights or black footless unitard, knee pads, barefoot. Hair tied off face and secured

Boys: Black jazz pants, white t-shirt, barefoot

 

 

MODERN/CONTEMPORARY: 9yrs and up

 

This 1 hour class has been designed to give students an understanding of modern dance through exercises that engage in body awareness and movement exploration. Students learn basic body movement and choreography in a fun and structured environment 

 

PILATES

Pilates is an exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates that transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. It is especially beneficial for dancers because it builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with graceful movement

Girls: Black leotard, black footless tights, unitard or jazz pants, barefoot. Hair tied off face and secured.

Boys: Black shorts, white t-shirt, black ballet shoes

 

 

 

PILATES (MAT CLASS):

 

Implementation of Joseph Pilates’ six “Pilates Principles”

Centering, Control, Flow, Precision, Concentration and Breath. Add sequences of isometric exercises, orthopedic stretches, amazing core pelvic floor movements and you’ll be sculpting and toning the body proportionally--All body parts will be equally challenged.

Beginners thrive in this mixed level class! All levels are welcome as we strengthen the mind and body together.

AERIAL 

 

AERIAL Silks 

Aerial Yoga is one of the newest blends of yoga and aerial circus arts, utilizing a silk hammock as a prop to aid the student in surrender during traditional postures that are difficult to achieve due to minimal flexibility or strength, physical injuries and often times, emotional fear. This class is a unique and fun way to expand your experience as a yoga student.

 

TAP / JAZZ Technique for Theater

 

Ages 12 and up 

 

This is the perfect class for students to have a better understanding of how to feel successful for a musical theater audition.
